The Men on the Mountain

On Saturday we went to Mount Rushmore with my family. We told Amara we were going to see the "Presidents." Having never heard that word before, she thought we meant "presents" and was sure she was going to receive something. When Jon pulled out a $1 bill to show her what a "President" is, she was not happy at all!

After that, we started calling them "The Men on the Mountain" instead of "Presidents." That worked much better... and led to funny conversations.

As we drove closer, we could see Mount Rushmore from a distance. I pointed to the sculpture and said, "Amara, do you see them men on the mountain?" She confirmed that she did, and continued to look at them.

After a few moments of thought, she said, "How'd they get up there?"

When we got out of the car and started walking through the Avenue of Flags, Amara was shouting out, "Don't worry man, Rah-Rah will save ya!"

A two-year-old in a wagon shouting her rescue plans -- that got some looks!
