Little Drummer Girl

We had to go to the doctor this morning to follow up on the kids' ear infections (Amara's is gone, Dominic's is not). Amara assured me from the car that the doctor would find elephants in her ears.

We were called back -- Amara led the way to the scale (you know you've been there too much when the 2 year old leads the nurse).

We were brought to our exam room. Amara pulled up a chair, then pulled the little stool in front of the chair and proceeded to bang it.

Then she said, "I need drumsticks." Tongue depressers.

At our last visit, the nurse gave Amara tongue depressers to play with while she looked at Dominic. Of course, Amara played with them. We drummed while quoting the book, "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" (aka the monkey book). It was very effective at passing the time last time.

It was very effective this time, too. I was just amazed that she recognized "the Doctor's House" as soon as we pulled up, and remembered our routine right away as well.

Oh, and the doc deemed Amara's ears elephant free!

That's just too funny about the elephants in the ears. Zachary is just over his bout with middle ear infection too. He was convinced there were spiders in there. "No, Zachary, no spiders in your ears." "Well, bugs fly... so there must be flying bugs in there to make them hurt." And that was that. LOL!
