Would You Like to Pet My Puppy?

Amara has always loved animals. There are a lot of dogs in our neighborhood, so puppies have risen to the top of her favorites list.

Every time we see a dog, she wants to pet it. It doesn't matter whether or not we know the person -- her love for dogs has allowed us to meet a lot of new people! Before she approaches a dog, we always emphasize that she must ask the owner first. That must be where this morning's tale has its origination.

As Jon and I were making breakfast, Amara was playing with her little toy puppy. Wanting to be where we were, she was doing this in the kitchen. She kept walking back and forth between the two of us. Each time, this is what she said:

"Hi. I am Amara. Would you like to pet my puppy?"

She must have done that ten times. Each time we'd ask what her puppy's name was. She'd just answer "my puppy." Finally, she decided his name is Charlie.
