More Soccer Fun

Just how excited does this little face look to be playing soccer?

Dominic was thrilled to be part of a team. He was even more excited when we arrived and immediately saw 3 of his buddies from school. Unfortunately none of them were on his team...but what better way to make more friends!

The coach got the kids practicing right away. The best way to get kids to pay attention is to "trap" their hands. In this case, they walked everywhere with the balls on their heads. When the coach spoke, the balls went to their heads. How cute is this!?

Dominic took quickly to the sport. I was just getting things situated on the side lines, and he took off sprinting kicking the ball ahead of him. He's by far the youngest on his team (by 3 months, I think)...but he'll hold his own!

Look at him go. They played all sorts of fun games. Once he understood the purpose of the game, he figured out how to "be the best" and get to the goal first. It was neat to see him maneuver around the line of kids to the best spot for successful running. The strategic thinking will serve him well both on the field and off!

As I mentioned with Amara's soccer practice, soccer is definitely not a sport that Jon or I love (or even like). But put our kids on the field, and we'll be the biggest fans and supporters. Exercise, sportsmanship, dedication to a team of other people, strategy, friendship, hard work, practice -- the benefits of ANY sport are so much more than the sport itself.
